Dave Hamilton And His Peppers - Beatle Walk
Here's a cool but obscure recording from Detroit guitarist and vibes player, Dave Hamilton. Beatle Walk was released in 1964 and would have been named in order to cash in on the US invasion The Beatles were staging at the time. It's a sleazy guitar and sax laden instrumental shaker, just how I like 'em. Hamilton worked as a session guitarist with Motown, playing on some of their early recordings. Beatle Walk was released on Fortune Records, a completely different, but also truly great, Detroit label. Because of Hamilton's connection to the Funk Brothers and other associated Motor City musicians, it's tantalising to speculate on who might have made up his Peppers. But I won't. As always, if you can shine any light on this, do get in touch.
